Eco taxi in Barcelona — a hybrid car
The cars I drive are hybrids. That is not a premium service and it does not cost you more: the fare is the same official metropolitan tariff as any other licensed taxi in the city. It just makes for a better hour in the car.

What you actually notice
Stopped in traffic on the Gran Via, the petrol engine switches off. No vibration, no noise and no exhaust drifting in through the window while nothing moves — which on the Ronda at half past eight in the morning is most of the trip.
It is quiet enough to hold a phone call from the back seat, and quiet enough that a sleeping child stays asleep between the airport and the hotel.
Barcelona is a low-emission zone
Most of the city inside the ring roads is a Zona de Baixes Emissions, with restrictions on the dirtiest vehicles at most hours. A hybrid taxi has no issue anywhere in it, so no route has to be planned around the zone and no trip gets refused because of it.
For anyone tracking travel emissions for work, a hybrid transfer is a straightforward line to justify.
It costs you nothing extra
Taxi fares in Barcelona are set by the AMB, so an eco taxi is charged at exactly the same rate as any other. There is no green premium and no separate booking route — the price you see on this site is the price either way.
Larger parties travel in the minivan or the eight-seater, which are not hybrids. If a hybrid specifically matters to you, say so when you book and I will tell you honestly what is available for your party size.

Does an eco taxi cost more?
No. The official metropolitan tariff applies to every licensed taxi regardless of what it runs on, and I add nothing for it.
Is it fully electric?
No, hybrid — a petrol engine and an electric motor together. It runs on the electric side at low speed and in traffic, which is where the difference is felt.
Can I get a hybrid for six people?
The minivan and the eight-seater are not hybrids. Ask when you book and I will tell you what is actually available rather than guess.
