What the vehicle actually is
It is a Toyota Proace Verso in Barcelona taxi livery — a full-size van with three rows, sliding doors on both sides and a boot behind the last row rather than instead of it. That last detail is the one that matters: plenty of eight-seaters only reach eight seats by filling the luggage space, which is no use to anyone arriving from an airport.
Sliding doors are worth more than they sound in a city like this. Barcelona kerbs are narrow and often busy, and a van that opens sideways can unload where a car with swinging doors cannot.
Seven passengers or eight?
Seven passengers with seven normal suitcases is comfortable, and that is the configuration most groups actually travel in.
Eight passengers with eight full-size cases is the honest limit, and in practice it is tight.
